Money taking toll on Cricket

My worst fears are turning into reality as I read the following news item on Cricbuzz, I could not resist myself from writing this post. As the New Zealand Cricket Board has been allegedly offer $ 1 mn for letting power hitting wicketkeeper & batsman Brendon McCullum for playing in the possible appearance of Kolkata Knight Riders in semifinals. Money has starting affecting cricket.

New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum may be lured away from his national team and back to the IPL in the middle of his ongoing Test series against England. McCullum, who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in India, could make another appearance for his franchise if the Shah Rukh Khan owned team reaches the semifinals.

McCullum could fly down to India to play the semifinals as the match is scheduled in between the second and third Tests being played in England.

Reports suggest that New Zealand cricket has been offered one million US dollars to release him to play in the semifinals.

It is learned that New Zealand CEO Justin Vaughan will take the final call regarding the matter.

The whole issue has not been reviewed as the Kolkata team haven't made the Top 4 yet.

McCullum thrilled the crowds in his brief stay in the subcontinent, hitting a brutal century against the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the high-profile opening match of the IPL.
